DOE Webinar February 11th: “Clean Energy Works Portland”
ANNOUNCEMENT
DOE Webinar Scheduled For Thursday, February 11th
On Thursday, February 11th at 3:00pm EDT, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will host a webinar on “Clean Energy Works Portland”. Clean Energy Works Portland offers homeowners access to low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency improvements that are paid back on utility bills. The effort is a collaboration between the City of Portland, ShoreBank Enterprise Cascadia, Energy Trust of Oregon, NW Natural, Pacific Power, Portland General Electric and many others. The program began conducting home energy assessments in the summer of 2009 and the loan applications are steadily coming in. Initial results suggest that the Clean Energy Works Portland model helps move the market for energy retrofits; over 50% of those who receive an energy assessment decide to do a retrofit. Clean Energy Works Portland is also a leader in bringing together a diverse group of community and labor organizations in support of a landmark social equity pact called the Community Workforce Agreement, which sets worker training and wage standards. This program is a replicable model for the creation of quality green jobs and the reduction of home energy consumption.
This session features:
- An example of a loan fund seeded with EECBG dollars being administered in partnership with local utilities to provide on-bill repayment and serve as a platform for deployment of private capital
- Tips for reducing barriers to home owner participation in retrofit programs
- A model for engaging community and labor organizations to ensure worker training and wage standards
Presenters:
- Aaron Berg, Blue Tree Strategies
- Derek Smith, City of Portland
- Adam Zimmerman, ShoreBank Enterprise Cascadia
