Energy Efficiency Training Opportunity for Utility Program Managers in the Southeast
APPA is working with CEEP and the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) to bring its new Energy Efficiency Management Certificate Program (EEMCP) courses to the southeast. We are inviting southeast joint action agencies or regional/state associations to apply to be selected as the host site.
The cost of the courses, materials and instructors will be fully sponsored by APPA, CEEP and SEEA. The host will only be responsible for logistical arrangements and any site based costs associated with the training, such as meeting space, refreshments and AV equipment.
We will select the winning site based on demonstration of need and ability to recruit member utilities to participate.
How to Respond
This opportunity is open to public power utility organizations in the southeast (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia). If you are a representative of an individual utility in the southeast interested in taking these courses, encourage your joint action agency or association to apply!
In order to be considered, organizations that represent public power utilities should submit a short (approximately one page) statement of interest demonstrating:
- the need for training among your member utilities
- the current status of energy efficiency program implementation
- your ability to recruit member utilities to participate, and the number of individuals you expect would attend
- details on where you would host the training (i.e. at your facility, a member's headquarters or other location)
- your preferred week to host the courses (October 18-22; November 8-12; or November 15-19)
The expectations for utilities that attend the trainings are to:
- provide feedback and critic on the courses
- participate in a pre-workshop interview so that the courses can be tailored to participants' needs
- provide feedback at a later date on what the courses helped them to accomplish
Statements of interest must be received by September 10, 2010. Candidates will be contacted and an organization will be chosen by September 17, 2010.
Please submit statements and direct questions to Ursula Schryver, uschryver@APPAnet.org.
Energy Efficiency Management Certificate Program Overview
To help utilities develop and manage energy efficiency programs, APPA is offering a new Energy Efficiency Management Certificate Program (EEMCP).
Through the EEMCP, utility personnel will gain firm grounding in all aspects of energy efficiency program development, implementation, budgeting, marketing and management.
To earn an Energy Efficiency Management Certificate, participants must complete the courses, pass a written exam and submit an energy efficiency program business plan.
The EEMCP debuted at the UEC 2010 Summer Institute and will be offered again in November at the UEC 2010 Fall Institute in Portland, OR, November 1st - 5th. They are also available for JAAs and associations to bring in-house. Here, we are offering a scholarship for southeast organizations; however we hope to be able to offer sponsored courses in other regions in the coming year, if you have interest in pursuing this, please contact us.
