The Clean Energy Project Exchange
The Clean Energy Project Exchange (CEPEx) is an Austin Energy initiative that helps prioritize energy projects based on their carbon return on investment. Knowing which generation technologies reduce the most carbon for each dollar spent is key to choosing an energy project. This calculation, called the carbon return on investment (CROI), is a good way to gauge a project’s effectiveness.
The CROI matrix helps utilities, policy makers, and businesses:
- Choose energy projects that reduce the greatest amount of carbon emissions in the shortest time for the lowest cost
- Prioritize possible solutions and determine the best ways to meet unique needs
- Access public research studies and government publications
In addition to housing the CROI matrix, CEPEx also serves as a resource for discovery and sharing. You can save your energy scenarios, share your scenarios with others, and communicate with other participants.
