Saving Energy Cost-Effectively: A National Review of the Cost of Energy Saved Through Utility-Sector Energy Efficiency Programs

In an update and expansion of its 2004 report by the same name, ACEEE found that utilities in the 14 states that have ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs are spending an average of $0.016 to $0.033 per kWh on programs. ACEEE concludes that energy efficiency can cost easily up to 2/3 less than the cost of any new source of electricity supply, regardless of fuel source.
